Our niece Sheri Weigel passed away Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016 in a Bismarck hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Kenny’s sister Lorraine Nelson.
Sheri was born August 27, 1960, to Kenneth and Lorraine (Bradley) Nelson in Minot, ND. Sheri is survived by her husband, Dean Weigel; mother, Lorraine Nelson; children, Pamela (Matt) Thorton, Thomas (Leslie) Weigel, and Kimberly (Curtis) Weigel; 2 granddaughters; her brothers, Tim (Annette) Nelson and Greg (Jackie) Nelson. Sheri was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Nelson. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her family.

Robert Morris, 85, of Scottsburg, IN died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016.  He was born in
December 1930 to William Lotus Morris and Helen Leona (Jones) Morris who
preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Martha, 1 son, 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and brother, Donald L. Morris. Robert Morris graduated from Ryder High in 1949.

Quilting party...see if you can see all 6 quilters peeking out from the quilts.

Sharleen Larson and 5 of her friends got together several weeks ago to hold their annual quilt making party. Sharleen said they made at least 20-25 quilts over the course of several days. When asked what they do with the quilts she said they keep for self, gifts for family etc. A couple were given away for Community service.

Faye and Bud Karna had their Thanksgiving family gathering on Saturday, Nov. 26. Grandma Faye cooked the meat and got the potatoes and dressing done while Kellie and Kyann brought all the other “fun” things to eat. After eating and cleaning up, the girls put up/decorated a Christmas tree for their mother!

Wayne and Carol Jean Hansen celebrated Thanksgiving with the Rockeman family. Elvina Rockeman of Minot hosted. Also attending were Elvina’s sons and their spouses, Karl and Jessica Rockeman of Richardton, Jessica’s sister, Eva, who attends NDSU and Mark and Annette (Hansen) from Donnybrook. Wayne and Carol Jean enjoyed time away from Edgewood Vista and a bit of fresh air!

Celebrating a wonderful Thanksgiving Day at Jody and Peggy Reinisch’s were: Jerome Harstad, Josh Reinisch, Alex and Kelsey DesRoches, Lorn and Corinna DesRoches, Adam DesRoches and Gramma Mary Vaughn.

Kenny and I joined John, Staci and Johnny McGrath at their home for Thanksgiving. They put together a delicious meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, cranberries and a relish tray. (What I want to know is why didn’t she cook like this when she was living at home?) Staci and John thought they'd try and get some Christmas shopping out of the way if we would take Johnny home with us. So we did. He was so excited to get to stay, only trouble is...he never wants to go home! He wrote a story about celebrating Thanksgiving and I thought I’d share it with you. He only parted with it with the promise that I would return it to him. Now remember this kid has quite an imagination!

The Way We Celebrated Thanksgiving by Johnny M.
We found a turkey running through the store. That turkey was so hard to catch but we weren’t ready to give up yet! “O turkey” cried a man. The man bought turkey treats. The turkey almost came. Then another man came up and said, “Hey, you need some help?” “Yes” said the man. Then one more man came up and said, “We’ve got the turkey.” Suddenly the turkey jumped out of his hands. The turkey was running through the bakery section. Loaves of french bread were flying through the air. An employee came up and tried to get it but he didn’t. That turkey ran as fast as he could right to the door! Then some dogs chased it away. We tried to catch that turkey but it just kept running. We couldn’t keep that wild turkey, he was just too much trouble. The End.
