Ryder News for Dec. 22, 2016
Spending Sunday afternoon and evening with Jim and Doris Ann Zieman were: Don and Karen Bradley, Roger Nogosek, Lorraine Nelson, and Ken and Sue Bradley. There was very tasty food, lots of visiting and game playing and of course the picture taking so photos could be sent to Myrna and Terry Scheer who are now living in the balmy state of Arizona!
Dwight Paulson’s wife of 50 years, Donna Rae Paulson passed away Friday, Dec. 16 from a 26 year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, twin daughters, 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. Ron and Muriel spent the weekend at the Mart home in LaMoure where they took in granddaughter Ana’s basketball game.
Henry and Lucy Oberdick, grandchildren of Rod and Kathy Kallestad of Garrison with their oranges.

Grandchildren of Rod and Kathy (Kronbach) Kallestad of Garrison, Henry and Lucy Oberdick along with their mom and dad, Cindy (Olson) and Wil Oberdick of Minot received a nice box of citrus (oranges and Clementines) from Great Aunt Marilyn (Kronbach) and Great Uncle Warren Kletzien from Lake Wales Florida for Christmas.

Daniel Starks has been busy the last couple of weeks performing Christmas music in various venues. He sang and played guitar for the shoppers at Fezziwig's in Garrison during the Dickens Festival and also this past Saturday in Minot at Gideon’s Trumpet and Jacobsen Music.
Rod and Kathy (Kronbach) Kallestad of Garrison attended Rod's work Christmas party for Garrison Lumber on Saturday night, December 18th at the Stoney End in Garrison. They had a very enjoyable time and great food!
The 1943-44 Ryder High School basketball team picture was submitted by Jon Eide and he says, “My father, Donald Eide, is #8 in the front row. I'm sure that people will recognize an uncle, a father or maybe a grandfather in this photograph. Another picture submitted by Jon Eide… “My grandfather, Schjold Eide, was a rural mail-carrier, here he poses (man standing on the right nearest the vehicle) in Ryder next to his half-track mail-delivery vehicle circa mid 1930's?” Lola Eide says, “That vehicle now belongs to a man in Mpls. who has restored it. I loved riding with Dad on his mail route. It was so cool!”
Faye Karna has shared some old news stories from the museum and the one for this week is from Hiddenwood News Service by Marjorie Landon:
“Henry Petz took Mrs. Brieland to Minot Saturday. She remained a few days with her small son, Melvin who is being kept under observation as a result of an injury to his eye. Mr. Brieland is reported as getting along nicely and will have the cast on his leg removed this week.
A large crowd attended the Farmers Union meeting at Blue Hill Friday evening. After the meeting adjourned everyone enjoyed a few hours of old time dancing.
A large crowd attended the wedding dance of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lenaburg at Ryder Thursday evening. The community extends best wishes for success and happiness in their married life.
The Beaudoin and Landon families were supper guests at the Bofenkamp home last Monday.
Ruth and Edna Arneson visited at Brielands Sunday afternoon.
Herb Pettings and his daughter Gertrude visited at the Tom Akan home Wednesday.
Charlotte Landon has been on the sick list the past few days.
Martha Sholaas returned from Minot Sunday having spent her two weeks vacation with her parents School began again on Monday.
Jim Blonigan of Douglas is working at the Gunder Brieland home.
E. B. Evanson, county supervisor for N.Y.A. of Washburn visited the Hiddenwood N.Y.A last week.
Esther Springer is employed at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ray Abrahamson.”
