Ryder News Jul 2, 2020

Ryder News for July 2, 2020

Faye Karna spent almost a week in the hospital in Bismarck due to a bacterial infection. She is out of the hospital now and feeling fine!

.12 inches of rain Wednesday night June 24th and the power went off just long enough to make me reset coffee pot and TV. We’ve had thunder and lightning the past few days but alas, no rain! The power did go off again Saturday and once again as usual, it knocked the power off to coffee pot and TV. It doesn’t stay off long enough to shut clocks off tho, which is kind of weird!  Now we have been having tornado warnings and heat warnings. I saw a facebook live post today (Monday) where the Storm Chasers are in the area and are going to be looking for the tornados that are forecast for this Monday afternoon and evening. We sure don’t want tornados but we’d like some rain!

Avery Cree with the bike she won at the Hiddenwood Picnic.
Kathy and Dave Kimball’s granddaughter won a bike at the Hiddenwood Picnic and decided to give it to her grandmother to give to another child that doesn’t have one! What a nice little girl!

Crystal Cree, daughter-in-law of Kathy and Dave Kimball said the following, “For the last 20 years of being married into the Kimball family this was our first Hiddenwood picnic experience. We all had a great time and we will definitely be back for years to come. The raffle prizes were amazing and we are all grateful for the winnings. I’m a super proud mom that Avery decided to donate the bike back to another child who is in need. God is good all the time. Thanks again Ryder/Makoti and other areas for including us.”

Bald Eagle visiting the Hiddenwood Picnic.
There is a bald eagle nest near the Hiddenwood area and it has two little ones in it. Rather a neat thing for our area and they’ve been in this area for a few years now!

The McGrath family spent the weekend at the lake and my brother Dick, his wife Debbie and I decided to go to the lake and visit them on Friday evening. They
had a beautiful spot surrounded by trees on the west, north and south. Then when they were on their way home on Sunday, they ran into a heavy storm by Max with lots of rain and marble size hail. There were many vehicles pulled off to the side of the road to wait out the storm and they did as well.

Tessa Walters and Andrew Gilpin

There will be a Wedding Social at the Makoti High School Gym on July 11th at 3 p.m. for Tessa Walters and Andrew Gilpin. Come and celebrate with them and wish them well.

The Ryder Museum is looking for a couple of things to be donated. They would like to acquire an early Citizens Band radio base unit, one from the 60s or 70s--should be intact but doesn't have to work. Would consider a very early desktop computer; something like a Commodore 64. Again, needs to look good but doesn't need to work.  Also a wooden slide rule.
They also have some painting that needs to be done this spring. Much of it could be done with a spray gun if someone has one but most could also be done with a brush and roller.

The 2020 Makoti Threshing Show will still take place as scheduled on July 10 to the 12th. More details to follow.
