Motorcycles at drive in church Service
Pastor Jonathan Starks posted the following on Facebook which I told him I was going to use in my news column: “'I drove over 6,000 miles to hear you preach today!' said a man from Tyler, Texas who was traveling through the area and happened to see our service gathering.
We shared a beautiful morning outside in worship together! I always love getting to see all the different vehicles that people drive into service! Today we had our first bikes, alongside a 68 Trans Am, and Nathan’s awesome truck! Together the hot rods ended our service by rapping off!!!
This weekend was the Makoti Threshing Show, and I sure enjoyed being able to see folks from our community and church driving their tractors, threshing machines, and hot rods in the parade!"

Lee Brandvold and his son Stetson driving an old tractor in the Makoti Threshing Show parade.

Speaking of the Makoti Threshing Show, I guess they changed the destination of the Tractor Trek to the Hiddenwood picnic grounds, so I didn’t get any pictures! Even tho I didn’t attend the Threshing Show in Makoti, I do have a picture of Lee Brandvold and his son Stetson driving an old tractor in the parade.

Lane Underdahl

Congratulations go out to Lane Underdahl, he just finished high school trap league and is the number one shooter in the state of ND, besting 695 other shooters. Lane has been shooting trap with the Lewis and Clark Bombers for 5 years. This year was his junior year and he shot a 24.6 average ending up the top male and the top overall shooter in the state of ND. He competed in the Best of the West shoot in Minot and was 5th out of 235 shooters. Lane is a senior this year and will have one more year to compete. He is the son of Luke and Heather Underdahl of Makoti.

We've been having some weird storms in our area, the power went off 3 times in the late hours of Friday night, July 10th. I was just about to go to bed when all of a sudden the power went off. As far as I could tell, there weren’t any storms around Ryder so I had no idea what the heck was going on. Then several minutes later after I got everything reset, it went off again. I thought that was a little weird as it doesn’t stay off more than a few seconds, just long enough to shut off my coffee pot and TV. So, once again I reset everything and of course grabbed a flashlight and it went off again! By that time I was ready to scream! I reset everything for the 3rd time and by gosh, it remained on after that! Then last night it flashed again but only once and I managed to get everything reset before going to bed. It seems this stuff always happens during the night. We did get a little rain during the night and this morning (Monday) as the rain gauge said .17.
