We’ve
been getting little rain showers off and on but they don’t amount to
much, We had .17 of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and then
the other day another .05. Just enough to make mud puddles again!
Staci
gifted me with my Mother’s Day present on Thursday of last week. She
got me a Roku which is a streaming stick for my TV. With this little
device which plugs into my TV, I can watch a lot of TV programs etc. for
free. I can hardly wait to install it and try it out!
The Kimballs had family out for the whole Mother’s Day weekend, Carl, Crystal, Matayah,
Avery and Ean Cree and their 2 dogs came to visit Friday and stayed
until Sunday. Joe, Amanda, Tristan, Caleb, Autumn, Aspen and Colton McCallum and their 3 dogs. They also stayed Friday and left Sunday.
Mackenzie
Casper, Joshua Odell and Joshua Jr came out for the day on Sunday.
These are all kids, grandkids and 1 great grandkid of the Kimballs!
Also, Patti and Amber Ouellette and Roxie Smith dropped by for a quick hello.
They
all had a great time!! Amanda and Crystal did all the cooking and the
kids were so happy to be at the farm and gramma and grampa were happy to
see them.
Due
to this Covid-19 Pandemic, the Memorial Day Service in Ryder has been
canceled but the Legion will be putting flags on the graves.
The Makoti Memorial Day Service is also canceled but the Legion will be putting crosses in their park.
May
17th is a day of celebration in Norway, known as syttende mai
(seventeenth May). Norway’s constitution was signed on this day in 1814
by 112 men from Lutheran parishes throughout the country, in Eidsvoll
(65 km/40 miles north of Oslo). The day is about hope and promise in the
year to come, but is also a day to celebrate tradition, especially
food. The food served today includes rommegrot (sour cream porridge),
lefse (flatbread), polse (sausage), smorbrod
(open-faced sandwiches), blotkake (cake similar to a Victorian sponge),
and farikal (boiled cabbage and lamb meat). The day is also celebrated
around the world by Norwegian immigrants. Since 1952, the Brooklyn
neighborhood of Bay Ridge has been celebrating this date, events similar
are held in Alaska, Wisconsin, London, Stockholm and Scotland. Gratulere med dagen! (congratulations with the day!)
