Lots of raffle prizes at Hiddenwood

There were a little over 100 people at the Hiddenwood Picnic this year and lots of prizes raffled off and lots of door prizes given away!
I won a raffle prize of screwdrivers and a tool set. Johnny McGrath won a nice cooler as a door prize. I also won a door prize as did Dick and Debbie Ludwig and John and Staci McGrath. We also bought a rhubarb pie to bring home. There was a lot of wonderful food and desserts at the potluck picnic which started serving at noon.

Kristine Shafer performing at Hiddenwood

Kristine Shafer did a great job singing and entertaining. Her mom Donna Shafer sang one song with her.

Johnny McGrath also sang one song. As long as he is willing to perform, I am sure they will have him.

In 2015 WWII veterans were asked to contribute to the making of a history book about their time served during WWII. Brayton Paul, formerly of Ryder, contributed lots to that book and has sent a copy of it to the Ryder museum. If anyone is interested in reading it, they are welcome to “check it out” and enjoy.  Brayton also has sent a copy of the CD he made for this project in 2015 which you can also borrow and listen to. Just get in touch with John or Janice Warner or Faye Karna.

There has been an updating of a binder for the L.C. Jensen Post #99 of Ryder at the Ryder Museums. If you have old Memorial Day programs that you would not mind donating, it would be appreciated. Any Memorial Day items or pictures are also welcome.  Just get them to John Warner or Faye Karna.

The earliest program they have is from 1968.  Those in the program that year were
Rev. Delmar Gurholt, Tim Petz with a reading, Larry Mahoney and Colleen Johansen each with a baritone or baritone sax solo. There were Street Sports after the program with baseball following. There were 3 games: Little League, Babe Ruth and League softball between Roseglen and Ryder.
