Ryder News June 16, 2016

RYDER NEWS FOR JUNE 16, 2016

Here at the Bradley residence our rain gauge shows that we have had a little over 3 inches of rain since Thursday. Now that's a lot of rain, thunder, lightning and wind! We went for a drive and it looks like there are some tree branches down and maybe a tree from the high winds of Thursday night.

Maggi Lynn's clean-up crew Otto Johnson and Jaxon Lynn

Maggi Lynn sent me a cute picture of Otto Johnson and Jaxon Lynn helping with the tree clean-up. Maggi lives in the white double wide behind Ryder's post office.

City Auditor's building on Main St.
The new City Auditor's building on Main St. is really coming along. The siding is on and the windows are in. I can't wait to get in there and take another picture.

Austin Schenfisch, son of Tom & Lisa Schenfisch, grandson of Byron & Donna Larson of Ryder and Lue Schenfisch of Makoti, just returned from the Class B State Baseball tourney with his team, the Lewis & Clark Wildcats (which has players from Makoti, Plaza, Parshall & Berthold).  This year he was selected for the All Region 7 team and also the Class B All State First Team.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Keith Kronbach, former Ryder resident. Keith passed away Sunday in his home. You may be able to find more information on the Thompson Larson funeral home website.

Crop dusting plane flying over Ryder

There was a little crop dusting plane flying over Ryder spraying crops on Saturday afternoon. Staci took my camera and managed to capture the little thing in several pictures. Now to choose which one to put in the news!

Charlene Knutson, husband Gene and granddaughter of Washington will be coming back to Ryder for a visit around the 22nd of June. Charlene would like to buy a green Ryder Centennial Jacket in a large or extra large size. She hopes there is someone out there that would be willing to sell theirs.

The Ryder Museum had some visitors this past week from Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Rader are dad and mom to the Jeb Raders that are now living in the old Lutheran Parsonage. Bernie Pellenwessel had purchased it and sold it a year or so ago.

Bud and Faye Karna's grandson, Kolby Erhardt of Bismarck has been visiting grandpa and grandma. They are taking him back to Bismarck today (Sunday) so he can celebrate his 11th birthday with his family. Happy Birthday Kolby.

Gary Hagen, Audrey Sherven, Deb Peterson and Pastor Janis Sloka attended the Western North Dakota Synod Assembly in Bismarck this past weekend. "Living in God's Abundance" was the theme. Think about the ways you are gifted to share!

Don't forget Ryder's 110th Birthday celebrated by Ryder's 11th Annual Mutton Bustin' and Bull Riding. It is to be held Sunday, July 10th, beginning at 1 p.m. There will be a steak fry to follow. Young muscular volunteers are needed!
