Ryder News for Aug. 11, 2016
Not much to share for news this week either.
We did manage to get some camping and fishing in. Staci
caught a nice walleye and everyone (except me, no license) manage to catch
perch and bluegill.
We also had some major boat trouble and John and Kenny did a
lot of fixing but it finally runs and sounds fantastic. There was a little
episode right before we left that had all of us in the boat going for a joy
ride when the motor just up and quit and would not start. Thankfully there is a
trolling motor on the boat and that is what got us back to shore. Later after
exploring the problem, it was discovered that there was a kink in the gas line
and easily fixed!
L-R: Garrett Williams, Raelyn Williams, Trent Williams as "Bubbles the Clown," Daniel Starks, Carson Rockwell, Lainey Rockwell and Lora Rockwell. |
We are so proud of our Prairie Ryders 4-H Club. They
competed at the 4-H District
Communication Arts contest last month. They all did an awesome job! We commend
them for their courage to speak and perform in front of an audience and judges,
a situation that most people fear. Daniel Starks, Trent Williams, and Lora
Rockwell took 1st place in their division, earning them a spot at the State
contest. On Sunday July 24th, Daniel,
Trent, and Lora were among over 80 4-H'ers from across the state who gathered
at the ND State Fair grounds to participate in the 2016 ND 4-H State
Communication Arts contest. Daniel won two Award of Excellence ribbons for Teen
Broadcasting and Teen Interpretive Reading. Trent received an Award of
Excellence ribbon for Pre-teen Dramatic Presentation and Lora earned an Award
of Excellence ribbon for Pre-teen Prepared Speech. (A panel of judges reviewed
each presentation and only the top 30% of 4-H Youth won the Award of
Excellence, the top ribbon in this contest. ) I'd say Daniel, Trent, and Lora
represented their club, community, and county well!
Ryder
Playground swing set updated with new and modern seats.

I went to the playground here in Ryder beside the Ryder
Community Club/Gym and took a picture of the updated swing set. It has all new
and modern seats for the kids to use and enjoy courtesy of a Community Club
fundraiser and the talented labor of Dave Kimball.
There will be NO soup and sandwich in August and the food
pantry hours will be changing. You can check the Ryder Community Club Food
Pantry website for more information or all 578-5876

It looks like this is the end of the news
for this week. Stay cool and watch out for the farmers moving their combines,
trucks and all the other farm equipment.
