“December 1950   Blue Hill News by Mamie Olson
What a deal the weather man dealt out Thursday, December 6th, after our just perfect weather.  It started to drizzle after a fog and later snow started falling with the temperatures dropping below freezing, causing icy roads and poor visibility. We did not get much snow here in the immediate vicinity. Just enough for a white covering. This Friday morning, the snow is still drifting but weather man says “Decreasing winds” so we’re just hoping for another spell of good weather again.
Mrs. O.K. Hopkins has spent several days at the Kenneth Hopkins home in Garrison helping care for her new and only grandson, George James.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Rostad are taking care of the Sever Romsaas place for six weeks while the Romsaas are in California visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Hanchett.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hopkins of Garrison entertained at a six o’clock dinner Sunday evening in honor of Kenneth’s mother, Mrs. O.K. Hopkin’s birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. O.K. Hopkins and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Hopkins, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hopkins.
So sorry for the error on my part. Ervin Hopkins has not gone modern on rock picking as I previously stated. It was Robert Sletten who decided to pick rocks an easier way by buying a new rock picker.
Phillip Hansen, who was hospitalized two weeks after a car accident, is back home, reported by relatives to be feeling pretty good.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Seeley and son of Fairbanks, Alaska are visiting at the Henry Hove home and with other friends and relatives. Mrs. Seeley is the former Ida Gilbertson.  The Seeleys are former residents of Ryder and vicinity. The past few years they have lived at Fairbanks, where Mr. Seeley is doing construction work. They flew from Fairbanks to Seattle, then from Seattle to Chicago and on to Pontiac, Michigan, where they bought 2 new cars. They visited Mr. Seeley’s parents in So. Dak. and visited at Bismarck, Grand Forks and Minot. They plan to leave for Idaho on Tuesday where they will spend the rest of the winter.”
