BOO---HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
I can’t believe it will be Halloween in just a few more days. Boy oh boy, the time sure is flying and ugh---winter will be here before we know it!
If you are looking to have a fun, safe place for your little ones to spend Halloween evening The Makoti American Legion Auxiliary will be holding their annual Halloween party on Saturday, October 31st from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Legion Hall. There will be games, treats, prizes and a hot dog snack. Donations to the cake walk are welcome and if you call Wanda at 726-5737 we will pick up your treat. All area children 6th grade and under are invited and feel free to bring grandparents and parents.
We had pea soup fog this morning (Monday) and I just saw on the KMOT website that Highway 83 south of Minot was temporarily closed this morning due to an accident involving multi vehicles and an anhydrous ammonia tanker. Luckily the tanker was empty! They are saying that one person has died and many others were injured! Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those involved.

Spending two weeks visiting with her sister Elinor Kronbach West were her sister Marilyn and husband Warren Kletzien. They helped her celebrate her 90th birthday. Elinor said Marilyn did all the cooking with a little help from Elinor and Warren. She said Warren took her car to the shop for some much needed work…mufflers, tailpipes, etc. He even washed, waxed and polished it. She said he also did some of the upkeep work inside the house. Elinor said she sure wished they lived closer as they live in Florida and she lives in Oregon.
Our sympathy goes out to the family of Cody Hanson. Cody passed away Monday, Oct. 19th in a Minot hospital from respiratory complications of pneumonia. She and her husband Kevin made their home on a ranch in Vang Township of Ward County north of Ryder.
Cody is survived by her husband of 25 years Kevin; children: Wyatt and Hadlie; mother: Beverly Brandt of Surrey; mother and father-in-law: Marcy and Kermit Hansen of rural Ryder; siblings: Terry (Nikki) Brandt, Shelby (Rhonda) Brandt, Stacey (Joey) Wald as well as other relatives and nieces and nephews.
Cody’s Celebration of the Life was held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church of Minot.
Troy Alderman and several of his hunting buddies are spending the week with Troy’s parents, Don and Elaine Alderman. Troy plans on getting some area visiting done as well as bird hunting with his friends.

It was Teigen Neumiller’s first birthday so I am sharing a 4 generation picture of her great grandparents, Don and Elaine Alderman of Ryder; grandpa, Troy Alderman of Preston, Iowa; Teigen’s mom Taylor and little Teigen both of New Rockford. Happy Birthday, Teigen!!
The Ryder Community Club will be lighting up the Ryder Park on Sunday, Nov. 8th at 1:00 p.m. If you have any lights you don’t want or use anymore, you may want to donate them to the Community Club to help light up the park!
Mark your calendars for Nov. 11th. At 5:45 p.m. Bishop Mark Narum will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church to discuss the future of the Prairie Rose Parish which includes Immanuel, St. Paul, Hope and St. John’s. All parishioners are invited for an open discussion. There will be a meal before the discussion.
