Ryder News Oct. 22, 2015

Ryder News for Oct. 2015

Wow, isn’t this weather great! I hope it lasts until January; well, I can wish can’t I?

Some news that I forgot to put in last week…Kari Mart and kids, Ana and Tate decided to spend the weekend with Ron and Muriel Peterson and they made an appearance the Ryder Pork Feed to say “Hi.”

There wasn’t much damage around Ryder from that horrific wind storm we had a week ago. My brother had the top (about 40 feet) of a 100 foot evergreen break off and luckily it didn’t land on his mobile home. Russell and Gayle Semmen had a large limb break off from one of their trees and that’s all I have heard about. I guess the wind storm earlier this summer must have taken care of all the weak trees as that one really left a mess!

If you didn’t have a chance to buy a Makoti Centennial Book, there are some for sale at the Cornerstone Bank in Makoti. You can enjoy reading about Pioneer Days, History of Makoti, Family Histories, Churches, Schools, Veterans, Organizations, Centennial Farms, Memorials and much more! All proceeds from the sale of these books goes to the Makoti Community Corporation.

If you are looking to have a fun, safe place for your little ones to spend Halloween evening The Makoti American Legion Auxiliary will be holding their annual Halloween party on Saturday, October 31st from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Legion Hall. There will be games, treats, prizes and a hot dog snack. Donations to the cake walk are welcome and if you call Wanda at 726-5737 we will pick up your treat. All area children 6th grade and under are invited and feel free to bring grandparents and parents.

I received an e-mail from Tony Petersen about his 6 year old son Cash. Tony says, “Cash Petersen #369 ended up taking 4th place in in the state of North Dakota in the 4 to 6 50cc class. It was a great season and Cash progressed so fast that I can't wait to see where he goes with this. He will be continuing his racing on the g4mx circuit in SD on the indoor track this winter."
