Ryder
News Jan. 8, 2015
Yikes, the cold snap finally got us with
below zero temps and awful wind chill temps. On the upside, we didn’t get all
that snow they were forecasting…of course it sounds like there is more coming
so cross your fingers that the roads stay good and we don’t receive a ton of
snow.
Last week's Mystery Photo. |
The Mystery Photo answer is: (drum roll
please), Front row: L to R, Terry Johansen, Donnette Morris, Steve Morris,
Kevin Mueller…Back row: L to R, Jay Erb, Dennis Johansen, Randy Morris, Sandra
Morris, Khylene Mueller, Donna Johansen.
And we have some correct guesses, Nancy
Schuelke and Kathy Kallestad had them all correct and Sharleen Larson had all
but one right. Way to go ladies…good job!

Doris Landon celebrated her 90th birthday
Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Brentmoor Assisted Living Center in Minot,
North Dakota. Over 100 of Doris's dear friends and relatives were present. Among
those relatives present were Doris's nieces, Betty Ziegler, of Plymouth,
Minnesota, and her daughter Bonnie Baird of Fargo, North Dakota; Sue (Tom)
Geising, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and their daughters Char and Clarice of
Fargo, North Dakota; nephews Tom (Gwen) Price, Tim (Marion) Price both of

Dakota; Richard Becker of Ryder, North Dakota; Allen (Carol) Becker and Angela

Starks entertained the party goers with several Hymns. Doris's grandchildren,
Justin and Jeremy Landon, related fond memories of their grandmother, and Chelsey
served the birthday cake. Later, Bill Merck and his band from Minot
entertained, and Doris's cousin, Dee (Harold) Edwards, of Garrison accompanied
several songs with his musical saw.
Doris said she sincerely appreciated
everyone coming out for her birthday and sending flowers and cards which made
her birthday a very special occasion.
I received a nice letter from Betty Berg
telling what her family had done for Christmas. “Christmas Eve we went to Saron
church for a 5:30pm service. It was very nice. Afterwards we went home and
spent the evening by ourselves and dined on a pizza supper. Our son Duane
joined us as his kids had not come home yet to be with him for a couple days.
Christmas
Day Paul and I, son Duane and his daughter, Makayla, and Paul's mother, headed
for Turtle Lake for dinner with his sister Judy Rice and hubby Larry. My that
seems like along ride down there! But hey, I would go a long ways if I did not
have to cook! My youngest son Bryce and wife Wendy also came down with their
two girls, Kaitlyn and Madelyn. Our oldest son Brian did not make it as they
were having his wife's side for dinner. We had a delicious dinner and a nice
visit with them. It has been a long time since we have gone down to Turtle Lake
and it was not bad weather, or icy roads or storming. WISHING ALL OF YOU A
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Paul and Betty Zilka Berg”
John and Jan Warner entertained most of
their kids and grandkids over the Christmas holiday. Lindsey and Kris Ilenda came
from Grand Forks. Mark, Mallory and Mabel Warner-Richter came from Minneapolis
and Lisa, Sue, Jordyn Warner, Ethan and Seth came up from Bismarck. Jordyn was able to spend a few more days
between Christmas and New Years with grandpa and grandma. No snow so it was a little hard to go
sledding! They all seemed to like the fact that John and Janice have moved and
there was room for everyone that wanted to stay.

Peterson for supper on Christmas Eve.

Peterson went to Bismarck to help her mother Esther Streeper celebrate her 94th
birthday. Marlene Streeper of Bismarck also brought her birthday wishes. Rodney and Arlene Wilson from Grand Forks
brought flowers and birthday wishes as well for Esther’s birthday. Esther now
lives in Primrose Assisted Living Facility.
