Those who signed up for Thanksgiving food meal boxes, will receive your box on the same day. You have to sign up for it to receive it! You sign up for the Thanksgiving food meal box at the Ryder Post Office. There are sign up sheets in the lobby of the post office on the bulletin board and an envelope to put them in. Also on Dec, 18th, Friday from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. they are going to have another drive by to give out the Christmas food meal boxes. You sign up at the Ryder Post Office. Read the instruction sheet when you go in to sign up. They will not hold food boxes for anyone.

There will be a Covid safe turkey drive by give away on Dec. 19th starting at 1 p.m. It will be 1 turkey per family/car sponsored by the Ryder Community Club. You don’t have to sign up for the turkey giveaway. It will be first come, first served until they are out of turkeys.

I have several deer pictures this week but not much actual news to share. I am seriously thinking about quitting writing since I am sure everyone is getting sick of hearing about what I’m doing!!

Kent Janz and Kendall with his 5x5 point buck.

Kent Janz got his deer with the help of his daughter Kendall. The deer weighed 185 lbs and was a 5x5 point buck.

Kelly Schmidt with his 5x5 point buck.

Kelly Schmidt got his deer. He wasn’t sure about the weight but it was a 5x5 on the “antler” scale.

Nora Deplazes with her 4x4 point buck.

Nora Deplazes of Devils Lake shot her first deer and It was a 4x4 buck. She has a youth license for that area and is the daughter of Brad and Melandie Deplazes and granddaughter of Richard and Stephanie Hagen.

Hailey Haugen with her ND moose.

Brad Haugen’s granddaughter Hailey Haugen got her once in a lifetime ND moose. She and her dad, Ryan, spent weeks scouting and on the last day of the season she shot one!

Rod and Kathy (Kronbach) Kallestad of Garrison had visitors the weekend of November 6th through the 8th. Jenny and Carter Brossart of Minot and Henry and Lucy Oberdick of Surrey came down Friday night to stay the weekend. They played in the park in Garrison on Saturday (even though it was only 33° but the grandkids didn’t care), went for some rides in the Rhino side-by-side, and attended drive-in church in Ryder on Sunday morning.

A former Makoti resident, Wilmar Schenfisch, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 12th in a Minot assisted living facility. That’s all the information I have right now. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends.

The Dickens Festival that has been held yearly in Garrison for quite a few years has been cancelled this year due to the outbreak of Covid 19.

Ryder’s eleven year old Cash Petersen with his motorcycle and his dad Tony Petersen is heading to Florida this week to compete in the Mini OS Nationals. This is the 49th annual winter olympics and it starts Monday and runs through Thanksgiving Day at Gatorback Cycle Park in Alchua, Florida. The best amateru riders from around the world compete all week long in what’s dubbed as the “Mini Os”.  They have an awards ceremony at the end of the racing week.

I finally got my good radio over to my new house and my son Rick mounted it under the cabinet in the kitchen for me on Saturday. That same day, David Banks came over and put up my living room, family room and patio door blinds for me. I sure do appreciate all the little things being done for me that I can’t do myself. Now to get Rick to put up a few more things for me!!

Speaking of radios and Calvary church drive up service, I’ve been trying to get the service on my radio for several weeks. Would you believe that I had 4 radios that can pick up FM stations and I couldn’t get any of them to pick up 107.5 until I got my 5th radio from the farm. Sure am glad Rick got it put up for me!

Upcoming Events:

Nov. 22...10:30 a.m. Ryder’s Calvary church will continue to hold Parking Lot Drive-In Church services at 10:30 every Sunday morning until further notice. Tune to 107.5 on your FM radio station to listen to the service.

Nov. 22...9 a.m. Worship Service at Hope Lutheran Church of Makoti.

Nov. 22...10:30 a.m. Worship Service with communion at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Roseglen.
