Ryder News for June 18, 2020

Once again Ryder lucked out from the severe storms they were forecasting for McLean, Mountrail and Ward counties plus numerous others in the state. Some places received quite a bit of rain and tennis ball sized hail but all I got here was .11 of an inch of rain and a little pea size hail. My brother who lives 4 miles away didn’t get anything!

Sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Russel Johansen, Minot, formerly of Ryder. Russel passed away on Saturday, June 13 at a Velva care center.

Janice and John Warner traveled to Helena, Montana recently to lay Janice's mother to rest.  Margaret (Peggy) Kundy 89, passed away May 24th at her health care facility in Helena. She spent her first 87 years living at Three Forks, MT. My sympathy to the family.

Boy, it is amazing how much “stuff” you accumulate in a camper. I’m still cleaning mine out..finally got the bedroom done and a few things from the living room but still have a lot to remove. Makes me tired just thinking of it and then wondering where I am going to put all of it when I do get it into the house!

DON’T FORGET...The 118th Hiddenwood Old Settlers annual picnic will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020. Due to Covid-19 concerns the picnic will be a little different this year. This year it will be an Old Fashioned Picnic, bring your own basket lunch and  you can sit under the shelters at outside tables or in the main building. Coffee and bottled water will be provided free of charge. There will be an 11 a.m. All Faith Church Service. Bring a lawn chair for the outside service or you may also sit in the main building. There will be a program after lunch. They welcome your talent on stage! Pie and coffee for purchase in the afternoon. Hiddenwood Picnic Grounds are 8 miles south of Makoti on County Road #9. Practice Social Distancing...Take care...Stay Safe.

The Ryder Museum is looking for a couple of things to be donated. They would like to acquire an early Citizens Band radio base unit, one from the 60s or 70s--should be intact but doesn't have to work. Would consider a very early desktop computer; something like a Commodore 64. Again, needs to look good but doesn't need to work.  Also a wooden slide rule.
They also have some painting that needs to be done this spring. Much of it could be done with a spray gun if someone has one but most could also be done with a brush and roller.

The Community Food Pantry located in the Ryder Community Gym will be open once again the 4th Saturday of the month from 10-1 p.m.

There will be no Ryder Community Club Bingo in June or July, due to the pandemic.

Upcoming Events:

Ryder’s Calvary church will continue to hold Parking Lot Drive-In Church services at 10:30 every Sunday morning until further notice. Tune to 107.5 on your FM radio station to listen to the service.

June 21--11 a.m. All Faith Worship service at the Hiddenwood Picnic Grounds 8 miles south of Makoti on County Road #9.
