Ryder News for Aug. 22, 2019

Since the Garrison paper neglected to print the Mystery Photo from last week, I sure didn’t have many guesses. The guesses I did have were from the picture that was on the Ryder News website which is: suesnewsryder.blogspot.com.
Dwight Paulson said, “It is Clayton Erb. Jim Becker also had a road grader, but it was a different model. Love the old pictures.”
Here’s a text from a reader: “Hi Sue, Just showed my Mom, Virginia Wolff, the picture of the store in Makoti. We think it looks like the old grocery store, Smith's Grocery. Just a thought. Also, Clayton Erb was our road grader specialist in our neighborhood. Sue Wolff Anderson”
Thanks for all the guesses as to the mystery photo...I did have one or two wrong ones as well.

Jaidyn Johansen, new police officer in the Williston Police Department.

Some exciting news we would love to share...Rod Johansen's granddaughter, Jaidyn Johansen recently completed the police academy in Fargo and will be starting her career at the Williston Police Department.  Her family is incredibly proud of her and so is the community of Ryder...Congratulations!

Addison Miller, US Marine Corps Boot Camp Graduate.
Addison Miller graduated from the US Marine Corps Boot Camp on August 16th.  He had a nice welcoming from family and friends in San Diego, California.  He is the son of Billie and Art Miller of Ryder.  Addison is home for 10 days and then off to Camp Pendleton for a  month.  After that he goes on to his next location for MOS training.  We wish Addison Congratulations and Thank him for the service he is doing.  You make Ryder ND proud

The 2019 Youth deer season is coming fast. There will again be a youth deer contest. There is a sign up board in the K-Bar in Makoti or you can contact Heather or Shawna and get signed up!! $5 entry fee. Must be registered by noon on Sept 13th. All does must be weighed.

Lorraine Nelson and Doris Ann Zieman took birthday wishes to Delina Johansen of Minot on Thursday, Aug. 15th. They were classmates and graduated from Ryder High School. Happy Birthday, Delina.

Matt and Pam Thorton and girls of Bismarck spent Friday night with Lorraine Nelson. They were here for the memorial service for Matt’s grandpa, John Smith.

There will be a Bridal Shower for Shea Larson, Bride-to-Be of Chance Westgard on Sept. 7, 2019...2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ryder. The couple  is registered at Target and Amazon.com.

A huge HAND to the volunteers who helped the Community Food Pantry with their pop up store. They raised money for the Ryder Community Club and the Community Food Pantry. Without their dedication, it would not have happened They were truly blessed.

Just a heads up, if the paper keeps on with their heavy hand of editing of my news column (pictures and omitting articles from readers), I will be quitting the end of Sept.
