Ryder News for July 14, 2016

Daniel Starks and Justus Bangen

Daniel Starks from Ryder and Justus Bangen from Plaza received the opportunity to attend the American Legion North Dakota Boys State and it was recently held at North Dakota State College in Wahpeton. They had a great learning experience.

Calvary Church will be hosting Gospel Tent Meetings with guest minister, Billy Miller on Monday, July 25 through Wednesday, July 27.  The meetings will begin at 7pm and will feature special music nightly. Everyone is invited!

Lois McKinzie
The picture of Lois McKinzie who passed away June 24, 2016 was inadvertently left out of the news last week so it is in this one.

Kenny and I decided to go camping with the McGraths this weekend! We didn’t travel too far and we were constantly going home to take care of animals and get batteries for the boat and propane as we both ran out. Good thing we had extra tanks at home!

We had quite a storm late Sunday afternoon and evening. We didn’t get much rain (.23) but we sure had lots of loud booming heartstopping thunder accompanied by an intense lightening show. We sure were glad we didn’t get the tornadoes and large hail that they had in other places around the area.

Moose at Hiddenwood Picnic Grounds

I told you last week that I would get the moose picture that Staci McGrath took of the moose that visited them while camping. John said he had just let the dogs out when he saw it and he had to hurry and get them back in before they saw it! The moose had gone for a little swim by the boat dock and then started wandering down the road to where they were camped. Kinda scary if he would have been mean but also quite neat as Staci was able to get a great picture.

There will be a memorial fundraiser for Cody Hansen one Sept.10, 2016. All proceeds will go towards the memorial. The Cody Brandt Hansen Memorial Breakaway Roping and Team Roping will be held at the  Granville, ND arena. Contact Kristy Thorson at 701-537-4071 via text or phone for more information.

This is it for the news this week, looks like everyone was busy camping and attending weddings and street dances and later hiding from the weather.
