Ryder News for April 2, 2015

The men of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ryder served up a delicious Palm Sunday Dinner. It’s hard to believe that some men can actually cook! They served ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, coleslaw, pickles, buns, and ice cream. There were people there from Garrison, Douglas, Makoti, Roseglen, Minot as well as lots from Ryder. All in all, there was a fantastic turnout for this event serving 102 people and running out of food right at the end!

On Palm Sunday weekend the John Warner family met in Fargo for a family visit, shopping, swimming (of course), food and a trip down memory lane. Traveling from Bismarck were Lisa, Jordyn and Sue Warner. Robert, Krista, Alana and Sophia Savian and Mark, Mallory and Mabel Warner-Richter all traveled from Minneapolis. Kris and Lindsey Ilenda joined them from Grand Forks.

Since moving into the other house, John and Jan found lots of things to return to each of the girls from girls scout sashes, high school sports trophies, music awards, pins, cheerleading jackets, discus, prom trinkets and of course lots of pictures. The grandkids joined in “In who's that? and really Mom look at that hair!” Good times and laughs. The grandkids showed off their gymnastic abilities, singing voices and even Miss Mabel (2 1/2) showed her dance moves from a few Michael Jackson songs. The time together was short but they all enjoyed seeing each other as a group. Summer gets too busy so this turned out to be a perfect weekend.

The Plaza Senior Center invited Makoti seniors to a housewarming to celebrate the refurbishment of Plaza's center. There was a really nice roast beef dinner, games, cards, and a pool table that got much use the entire afternoon. Several people from Makoti went over and had a great time, visiting with friends, old and new. The Makoti seniors appreciated very much the invite and fun time they had that day.

Remember, there will be NO BINGO the month of April at the Ryder Gym.

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4th at 10 a.m. in the Ryder Park for ages 1-11. Crafts and snacks will follow at the Ryder Gym.

There will be a bridal shower for Kate Wurtz, bride-to-be of Dan Ihle on April 4th at 2 p.m. at the Plaza Senior Center.

The Makoti Pioneer Senior Citizens will have a pot luck supper on Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at the center. All area seniors are welcome.

There will be a bridal shower for Kelsey Reinisch, bride-to-be of Alex DesRoches on April 25th at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ryder.

Looks like love is in the air with all the bridal showers…congratulations everyone!

Now, I will need everyone to get their Easter Sunday news to me. Where did you go, or did you have company at your house? Let me know so we can share it with others. Inquiring minds want to know these things.

That’s it for this week so have a great Easter and get your news and pictures to me. Enjoy the spring weather and see you next week!
