Ryder News for Jan. 18

See, I told you in last week’s short little column that we would probably be back in the deep freeze by the time you got your paper. Well, guess what, I was right! Ugh I hate cold weather and snow. At least this weather keeps me in the house so I can work on the checkbooks and the Thank You cards. I have lots to write out and absolutely no ambition!

How many of my readers have this crud that is going around? It’s either the flu or a sinus infection like I am battling or just a rotten ugly cold. Take care and if you have any of the flu symptoms, go to your Dr. and find out for sure. In my family, Rick and Levi have the flu, Staci has something but not sure what it is, may be the flu. Of course I have this sinus infection which is getting better but I still have this ugly sounding cough.

Charlene (Chickie) Knudson passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 10th, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Milo and Lelah Knudson. Chickie’s youngest daughter Debra Thompson notified me as Chickie had asked her to do. She and I shared many letters and phone calls from when I first met her over the Ryder Centennial in 2006 and became very good friends. She will be missed. R.I.P. Chickie.

Now readers, this is what I have been talking about, your Christmas and New Year’s News. It’s news and I can use it and I want it so run to your computer, laptop, smartphone or typewriter and write your news and get it to me asap. Let’s keep this column going and that can only be done with your help and input.

Kent and Heather Janz had this to say, “We received our greatest gift on 1/4/18, Kaley Joan joined our family! We are home now and doing well!"
Congratulations on that beautiful little girl!

Ryder News For Jan. 11, 2018

Kenny had a beautiful memorial service on Saturday at our church, St. John’s Lutheran with Lay Pastor Wayne Johnson officiating. We sure do appreciate all the help from the Lady's Aid with fixing lunch and Bruce and Deb Peterson helping to get things ready in the church, Deb Peterson playing the organ, Curtis Peterson singing and our American Legion L.C. Jenson Post #99 saluting us.
We couldn’t believe how many friends Kenny had. He was a kind, gentle, warm and caring person who everyone liked. He will be greatly missed!

Dick, Debbie, Glen, and David Ludwig, David’s girlfriend McKenzie, Carmella Evanson, Staci, John and Johnny McGrath, Rick and Levi Sprinkle visited at our house after Kenny’s funeral.

Hey, guess what, our January thaw is here...yay, temps in the 30’s and it will stay for a few days. Time to get out the suntan lotion and our shorts and tank tops! Of course by the time you get your paper with my news column, we will probably be back in the deep freeze again.

I have no news to share with anyone as no one called, wrote or sent me a facebook message so that’s the way this column will be if no one sends me any news...a short boring news column. Get out there and make some news, let me know who was visiting at your house, where did you go for Christmas or have over for Christmas. What did you do for New Years?

Ryder News for January 4, 2018

I don’t have much news for this week as it has been a sad time for us. My beloved husband of 41 years passed away on Sat. Dec. 30th at our daughter’s home in Minot. We don’t know the reason for his passing, I guess it is just something that happens when you least expect it. As most of you know, he had been undergoing dialysis for the last 5 years and had other health issues as well.

Kenneth Bradley is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Rick Sprinkle (companion Shawna Gilpin); daughter, Staci (John) McGrath; 2 grandchildren, Johnny McGrath and Levi Sprinkle. The exact funeral plans haven’t been finalized yet.

There will be a Potluck Benefit for Richard Peterson on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Plaza Senior Citizens Center from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. (Richard has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and struggles with only one kidney. Hotdishes, buns and drinks will be provided. This event is supported by Thrivent funds.
