Ryder News for April 16, 2020

Pastor Starks preaching to the worshipers.
Ryder’s Calvary Church Easter Service was held outside Sunday morning with cars lining the streets across from the church and also filling the parking lot.  A sign in front of the church told the worshipers to tune their car radios to FM radio station  107.5 to hear the service. Pastor Jonathan Starks stood outside on a platform, behind the podium, with his microphone in hand to speak to his audience. He told them to honk their horns for an “Amen”. Just when he started to preach, a heavy snow squall came along and it lasted for the exact time that Pastor Starks was preaching. When he finished, so did the snowstorm. Worshipers were told in advance that they could bring their own bread and grape juice to partake in communion from the comfort of their cars while the pastor and his family had communion on the platform thereby practicing social distancing. I wasn’t able to go to the live service but I was able to tune in my radio and listen to it that way.
Pastor Starks later said, “Best Easter Service Ever were words we heard from those who joined us this morning! 27 vehicles gathered together for an unexpected and unforgettable God time together!
Snow turned into a blizzard but it didn’t dampen our hearts! We worshipped with Communion and experienced Resurrection Joy together! So thankful for all who shared this service. Some even heard the service in their homes! Easter Blessings to you all.  HE IS RISEN!”

Today is Monday and we’ve been getting heavy snow squalls off and on all day. It snows so hard that I can’t see across the road at times and then it quits and the sun starts to shine! Weird weather...where oh where is spring!!

In recent days, I have noticed many individuals participating in several different Facebook challenges and questionnaires that encourage you to post information about your personal life.
One of the most recent ones is, “Share a picture of every car you have ever owned.” This may seem like a fun trip down memory lane, but this information can be used by someone to gain access to your personal information.
When creating or verifying an account one of the most common security questions is, “What was your first vehicle?”
Other challenges/questionnaires may ask you for your mother’s maiden name or where you attended high school. Questions like these can potentially be used to identify yourself on your personal email, online banking, etc.
As fun as these challenges/questionnaires may seem, we encourage you not to participate and protect your personal information. Please be especially wary of posts which ask you to copy and paste the post. This allows the original posters to look at the accounts of everyone who has copied and pasted their information.
It can be extremely tempting especially with all this extra time on our hands, but hackers are sometimes using these types of tricks to learn your information. Don’t make it easy for them!!

I found another cute little story to share with you, my readers.

                                  My Self-Isolation Quarantine Diary
Day 1 – I Can Do This!!  Got enough food and wine to last a month!
Day 2 – Opening my 8th bottle of Wine. I fear wine supplies might not last!
Day 3 – Strawberries: Some have 210 seeds, some have 235 seeds. Who Knew??
Day 4 – 8:00 p.m. Removed my Day Pajamas and put on my Night Pajamas.
Day 5 – Today, I tried to make Hand Sanitizer. It came out as Jello Shots!!
Day 6 – I get to take the Garbage out. I’m So excited, I can’t decide what to wear.
Day 7 – Laughing way too much at my own jokes!!
Day 8 – Went to a new restaurant called “The Kitchen”. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have No clue how this place is still in business.
Day 9 – I put liquor bottles in every room. Tonight, I’m getting all dressed up and going Bar hopping.
Day 10 – Struck up a conversation with a Spider today. Seems nice. He’s a Web Designer.
Day 11 – Isolation is hard. I swear my fridge just said, “What the heck do you want now?”
Day 12 – I realized why dogs get so excited about something moving outside, going for walks or car rides. I think I just barked at a squirrel.
Day 13 – If you keep a glass of wine in each hand, you can’t accidentally touch your face.
Day 14 – Watched the birds fight over a worm. The Cardinals lead the Blue Jays 3–1.
Day 15 – Anybody else feel like they’ve cooked dinner about 395 times this month?

Ryder News for April 9, 2020

See, I told you...If March comes in like a lamb (which it did) it will go out like a lion! We had a lot of beautiful weather during March and then the last day, March 31st the weather changed. March didn’t go out roaring like a big powerful lion, rather a baby lion with quite a bit of snow during the evening of March 31st and into April 1st and beyond! At least we didn’t have a big old blizzard but did have snow and blowing snow and some icy roads. Now onto a warm spring and summer!

Have you seen the gas prices lately...under $2. Wow! Gas is finally affordable and we can't go anywhere.

I received a very nice letter from Delwyn Groninger, PK-5 principal at South Prairie School.
“Sue, Thoroughly enjoyed the Day 1 of Home Schooling piece in your Ryder News. I sent it out by email to 69 staff members here at South Prairie School.  They got quite a kick out of it also. Thank you so much.”

Well, I am so glad they all enjoyed my little Home Schooling piece. I thought it was funny and quite appropriate at this time.

The Community Food Pantry will be open by appointment only. It will be picked, packed and picked up outside the gym by the client. Contact Kathy for information at 701-578-5876.

The walking gym is closed until this pandemic is passed.

To go to the grocery store, they said wear a mask and gloves. But they lied--everyone else had clothes on.
